| EXPERIENCE | |
Sara D. Lund is an associate with the firm. Her legal experience has an emphasis on eminent domain law, civil rights, employment litigation and defamation. She also has experience in personal injury and property damage litigation as well as some background in criminal defense of juveniles. Ms. Lund is a Special Assistant Attorney General for the Department of Transportation, and represents the State in Condemnation cases ranging from small takings to larger, complex takings in Cook and Will Counties. She also engages her eminent domain specialization to defend clients against condemnation actions. Her experience in plaintiff’s condemnation work parlays into a strong command of knowledge in defending against government and municipal eminent domain lawsuits. In addition, her significant litigated matters include: Oak Park v. Phillips: successful eminent domain defense and jury trial; jury awarded client Phillips in excess of $100,000 more than Village’s original offer as just compensation for property taken. The case is now before the Appellate Court on review of whether the property can legally be taken by the Village of Oak Park pursuant to traverse motions and motions to reconsider in the record made by FDR, Ltd. at the trial level. Internet/Cyber Defamation Litigation: litigating cutting edge legal issues and legal precedent regarding alleged trademark infringement and cyber-squatting of domain names on behalf of a prominent Chicago Alderman Chicago; and litigation regarding definition of publication of allegedly defamatory material on the internet in defense of a private citizen against a prominent military school located in Wisconsin. Illinois Department of Transportation: successful settlement of over 15 eminent domain proceedings in Cook and Will Counties; current litigation of highly contested High Point Plaza taking regarding IDOT’s Hillside Strangler Project. Kasbohm V. Dominick’s Finer Foods, Inc.: successful resolution of personal injury lawsuit on behalf of Dominick’s Finer Foods, Inc.; six day jury trial resulted in a hung jury and matter was settled below Plaintiff’s demand prior to jury trial. Peterson v. Moriarty: successful defense of property damage claim regarding car accident, jury trial resulted in not guilty verdict. |
